Message from the President of SSRI on the Occasion of White Cane Safety Day
October 15th (Mehr 23rd) is a reminder of a right often overlooked amid daily routines—the right “to be seen beyond sight.”
According to the Public Relations , on the occasion of October 16th (Mehr 24th), White Cane Safety Day, Dr. Fariba Mohammadi, President of the SSRI, extended greetings to the blind and visually impaired of the nation in a commemorative message.
Part of Dr. Mohammadi’s message reads:
“White Cane Safety Day is an opportunity to reassess our perception of the world and of others—an opportunity to listen, to touch, and to understand a different experience of presence in life.
At the Institute of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, scientific understanding of the lives of the blind and visually impaired is part of a broader effort to achieve a deeper comprehension of humanity through movement, perception, and interaction.
Research in this field seeks to define scientific, educational, and sports mechanisms in ways that strengthen justice, accessibility, and inclusive participation in physical activity.
White Cane Safety Day is a reminder of the connection between awareness and justice—and knowledge gains its true meaning when it leads to a deeper understanding of human abilities and real needs.”
Respectfully,
Dr. Fariba Mohammadi
President, Institute of Physical Education and Sport Sciences
