Performance Assessment of the National Youth Wheelchair Basketball Teams of IRISFD at the Specialized Laboratories of the SSRCC

The adolescent athletes of the national girls’ and boys’ wheelchair basketball teams were evaluated in the specialized laboratories of the Sports Sciences Research Institute with the goal of enhancing physical performance and optimizing training programs.

According to the Public Relations office of the Ministry of Science, quoting the Sports Sciences Research Institute, the specialized performance assessments of the national wheelchair basketball team athletes were conducted in collaboration with Dr. Mahsa Ofoqi, Director of the Assessment and Training Center of the Veterans and Disabled Sports Federation, the national team coaching staff, and under the supervision of Dr. Hamed Abbasi, specialist in corrective movements. The professional research team included Dr. Mohammad Shariat-Zadeh, Dr. Mehdi Bayati, and Dr. Samira Gholamian, experts in exercise science and sports physiology, as well as Dr. Mohammadreza Seyedi, Ms. Donya Rezaei, Mahla Arman, and Niloufar Kazeminazhad, specialists in corrective movements and sports for individuals with disabilities.

This specialized evaluation, aimed at monitoring physical condition, enhancing athletic abilities, and designing targeted training programs, tested national athletes in various areas including aerobic capacity, strength, muscular endurance, agility, flexibility, and body composition.

This interdisciplinary collaboration, conducted within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the Research Institute and the Federation, represents an important step toward the development of knowledge-based elite sports and scientific support for athletes with disabilities, contributing significantly to improving the performance of the national wheelchair basketball team.
