Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and Alborz Science and Technology Park of ACECR

 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Alborz Science and Technology Park of the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) and the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences with the aim of expanding scientific, technological, and entrepreneurial interactions in the field of sports, supporting technologists, and developing innovative activities.

According to a statement from the Public Relations Office of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, the MoU was signed during a visit by Dr. Shahiki, Deputy Minister for Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Science, and his accompanying delegation, along with Dr. Farzam, Head of the Knowledge-Based Economy Commercialization Organization of ACECR, to the Secretariat for Policy-Making and Development of Intellectual Property. The document was signed by Dr. Mehdi Abbasi on behalf of the Alborz Science and Technology Park of ACECR and Dr. Mohammad Taghi Amiri Khorasani, Deputy for Technology of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.

The MoU aims to expand and develop joint cooperation and leverage the scientific, technical, research, cultural, entrepreneurial, executive, and legal capacities of both institutions. Under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in the exchange of information and facilities to support technologists and idea holders active in the sports field, as well as collaborating agents with the Intellectual Property Secretariat.

Creating a platform for cooperation with sports federations in the areas of needs assessment, providing advisory and educational services, and introducing products are also among the other axes of this collaboration.

Other areas of focus in this MoU include cooperation in providing standards and necessary certifications for sports equipment, commercializing inventions and products suited to the country's needs and market, developing innovation centers and specialized accelerators in the field of sports, holding joint events, conferences, workshops, and training courses, and developing technological sports activities. The two institutions will also cooperate in developing matters related to intellectual property in the sports field and the scientific validation of sports products and services with the aim of ensuring their quality and efficiency.

The MoU has been signed for a duration of three years. Under its provisions, the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences has committed to cooperating specially in the review of projects and the evaluation of patent registrations, participating in raising the scientific and technological level of sports products, cooperating in the process of granting facilities to technologists active in the sports field, reflecting the news and activities of active companies in this field in its available media, and introducing technological and innovative projects and ideas for intellectual property registration. On the other hand, the Alborz Science and Technology Park of ACECR is responsible for providing appropriate solutions to attract financial and moral support, prioritizing the review of membership applications from researchers and technologists in the field of intellectual property, informing relevant technologists about sports meetings, conferences, and roundtables, and cooperating in the payment of facilities to technological activists in the sports field.

To implement this MoU, to achieve its objectives, to monitor the proper execution of its provisions, and to resolve potential issues, a joint committee composed of representatives from the Alborz Science and Technology Park of ACECR and the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences will be formed, which will meet at least once a month. Furthermore, any executive action within the framework of this MoU that requires financial resources and a specific timeline will be implemented through separate contracts between the two parties.
